CADAVERIC SPASM

Cadaveric spasm is a unique phenomenon where right before a violent death, the muscles go into spasm. This is most commonly manifested in the hand which goes into a tight clinch from the spasm. When one is holding something at that particular instant, he/she would be gripping it postmortem.

Therefore, if you find say, a gun under the hand of a dead body, and not clinched...it's planted!
